I don't have to go to work today until 11 a.m. My late morning has taught me something that I desire for my future.
My kids one day will not just sit around the house and watch TV.
I will put them in any summer program possible. I'll let them
pick even as long as they are in a program. Dance. Sports camps.
Cooking classes. Swimming. Anything.
The reason being:
If my children ever have the
opportunity to watch an episode of The View then I would not be able to
live with myself as a father.

| It has been forever since I've been able to sit at home in the morning
and watch the Price is Right. I don't even love the show all that
much per se, but it just feels nostalgic to watch.
Tonight me and some friends are going to Austin to see a band.
"My" band is getting started. We'll be playing in a town near you very soon I hope. Stay tuned for updates.
Oh! By the by, I've seen Lady in the Water and I have the official
verdict. That movie is amazing. So well written. Suspensful,
intriguing and mystical. The film's cinematography was great
too! So there, to all you sceptics, Lady in the Water is a
fabulous movie.

Today's entry by O.C. made me look at my sin in my life straight in the eyes, and recognize it an unwelcomed guest.
"...as we go on, we find the presence of something which we have not taken
into consideration, viz., sin, and it upsets all our calculations...We have to recognize that sin is a fact, not a defect; sin is
red-handed mutiny against God. Either God or sin must die in my life...If sin rules in me, God's life in me will be killed; if God rules in
me, sin in me will be killed. There is no possible ultimate but that.
The climax of sin is that it crucified Jesus Christ, and what was true
in the history of God on earth will be true in your history and in mine..."
Who likes absolutes? I usually don't. I am pretty quick to tell people that I don't want to be legalistic about this or about that.
I am relatively moderate in my judging of right and wrongness of daily
situations. It should be said that I do value truth and
standards. However, I never seem to have a hard time in taking
grace and salvation in Christ as an absolute. I mean, after all,
we're told that it is ok to take our salvation as an absolute
right? Grace is always easy to fall back
on, and often abuse, as something that will always be there. This
O.C. entry really made me think though about the other side of me that
compromises and laxodasically lets unholy attitudes, thinking and
actions an unobserved guest in my life. I think it is easy to
abuse the comfort and peace given through faith in Christ on one hand,
and at the same time flirt with the grey areas in the rest of our
lives.
I am not going to leave my apartment today, and go out with a black and
white view of everyone and every situation that I come across.
However, I don't know how I could go on with the idea in my mind now
that "the climax of sin is that it crucified Jesus Christ" and be
comfortable with blatant sin as a part of my life. I'll be transparent
and tell you that there isn't anything that i'm going to need to change
via means of help groups or long conversations with people who i've
wronged in horrible ways. There are many things that I realize
that I have let become second-naturehand in my life. I am
lazy. I could not honestly examine my life on most days at say
that I am a devout follower or disciple of Christ. If one thing
has become second nature in my life then it is this: a distorted view
of how to love and value others. I want to start here
